Our Contemplation for 2024 : Metanoia

In our last gathering, we celebrated 'Kintsugi,' learning to honor our scars. This year, our journey evolves with 'Metanoia.' As 2024 unfolds, we delve into the transformative process of changing one's mind, heart, self, or way of life.

Metanoia was once personified as a Greek goddess by the same name. Here, she was the deep regret that comes when there's something you could have done and you missed the chance. Shrouded in contemplation, she urged one to seek moments of reflection and decisive change. She whispered of potential, while standing at the crossroads with Kairos, the deity of fleeting opportunity, she beckoned us to seize our transformative trials, and learn from the ones you have missed.

Today, it signifies a profound shift in life perspective. It’s that introspective turning point leading to emotional, spiritual, or psychological growth. Metanoia is now a symbol of potential, urging us to seize fleeting opportunities and learn from past oversights.

Carl Gustav Jung interpreted ‘metanoia’ to indicate a spontaneous attempt of the psyche to heal itself of unbearable conflict by melting down and then being reborn in a more adaptive form – This rebirth, often linked to mid-life crises and mental health breakthroughs, is now seen as a pivotal step towards self-realization and adaptive change.

In therapy, personal development, education, and culture, Metanoia represents moments of epiphany, a shift from ignorance to awareness, a collective awakening to new ways that better our world. At Revival, we embrace these awakenings. We celebrate the individual and collective transformations that inspire growth and positive change.

As you cling to familiar shores, you watch the river of life, constantly surging and flowing with dynamic energy. The river invites us to be renewed, but we cannot until we answer metanoia’s call to let go of the shore. Metanoia calls for us to release our old perspectives, beliefs and comforts. By loosening our grip we accept the unknown, we allow ourselves to be swept away by life's currents, leading us to new shores of understanding and experience.

In 2024, we invite you to look at your journey this far, and collect your stories of Metanoia. As you author your own mythology and origin story, where do you find yourself? Examine the opportunities you missed, and how those missed opportunities pushed you to seize new ones.

Come to Revival as a storyteller and allow for self-affirmation and the consolidation of personal growth by vocalizing your journey. Allow for a catharsis, to release any residual emotions tied to your past self. Or come as a listener to be inspired, and see the proof of the possibility of change.

2024 is a special year for us as it heralds a significant milestone in our cooperative efforts with Element 11. This date alignment offers a fantastic opportunity for our community to immerse themselves in a continuous celebration of culture and creativity, experiencing both Revival and Element 11 back-to-back. This unique scheduling means that those who adore both events can enjoy an uninterrupted journey of artistic expression and communal joy.

With Revival taking place right after Element 11, we’re gearing up for a vibrant influx of guests eager to unwind and recharge in the serene mountains of Eden. To maintain a harmonious balance with our infrastructure and dedicated volunteers, we've decided to cap our attendance at 600 participants this year. Given this limit and the excitement brewing, we anticipate tickets will sell out quickly.
