A Heartfelt Thanks and Anticipating New Horizons in 2024

THANK YOU!

To the incredible souls who graced this year's Revival,

The spirit and energy that each of you brought to the gathering was simply electric. As your event Chair, I am immensely proud of the way our community came together, not just in celebration, but in contemplation. Kintsugi illustrated the beauty in our imperfections and allowed us to embrace the cracks. I’ve never seen such cohesion for a theme at an event! I’d like to take a moment of appreciation for everyone who participated in this year's gathering, as well as provide some updates on upcoming changes moving forward.

To the bands, songwriters, and every melody and word shared - your music elevated the mountain side. Our enlightening workshops, managed by skilled facilitators, guides, and hosts widened our perspectives, and the theme camps intensified our connection as the backbone of our play, providing venues for us to connect and share vibrant experiences. Every moment contributed is a stitch in the fabric of Revival’s spirit of Creative Living, but the gifts of time from volunteers, artists, and facilitators truly breathe life into this gathering. These are the backbone of our event and vital to keeping the spirit of Revival alive. I’d like to thank each of you for your incredible efforts and contributions!

Quiet Camping and Layout

Based on the invaluable feedback from the post-event survey, we are already excitedly gearing up for changes to enhance our next gathering. We've heard from you and we will be making some modifications for next year. To start, the middle field will be dedicated to quiet and family camping, moving the bustling energy of stages and camps to the east field. This strategic shift aims to foster more intimate connections, facilitate easier workshop access, and maintain a harmonious balance between the day's enthusiasm and the night's serenity. And yes, to ensure utmost convenience, we'll have porto-potties stationed as a backup to our plumbing! We're truly moved by how the community rallied together during the temporary water shutdown – it's inspiring how our community used it as a moment to further bond, exemplifying the Kintsugi spirit.

Date Changes

A special nod to our collaboration with Element 11. For the past two years, our events have coincided, and while there’s beauty in synchronicity, we see a shared community longing for a broader experience. Recognizing this, and given the fortunate availability of two suitable weekend slots in the closing of June 2024, we're strategizing for Revival to unfold the weekend following Element 11. After 2024, Revival intends to revert to its traditional solstice weekend, although whenever possible, we'll continue this harmonious alignment with Element 11. However, it's pivotal to understand that our ambitions, though firm, hinge on permit approvals. The main worry for both events is their closeness to July 4th, Independence Day, which places a strain on Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) and Fire Fighters. Both events depend on these groups for assistance. Our current intent earmarks Revival for June 27-30, 2024, but circumstances may necessitate changes. Due to differing permit deadlines between the two festivals, we foresee offering a final confirmation by the end of November. Given this unique orchestration, we anticipate a swift ticket sell-out for both events in 2024. To honor and support our loyal Revival community, we're implementing two primary measures: Firstly, a tier of early bird ticket sales will open at November's end exclusively for our volunteers and past Revival attendees. Secondly, all tickets earned through volunteering this year will be reserved until May 2024, ensuring ample time for their claim. Our dedication to ensuring a seamless experience remains unwavering, and we look forward to celebrating another year of music, community, and joy.

Dog Tickets

Regarding ticketing changes, it's with a somber tone that I discuss our 2024 stance on dog ticketing. Our community holds a collective responsibility to respect and adhere to the attendance requirements, and ticketing agreements. This year in addition to multiple owner violations of off leash dogs, one of our participants lost their animal soul companion, in an altercation between two dogs, exacerbated by off-leash violations following the close of this years event. To prioritize the safety and well-being of all attendees, both two-legged and four-legged, we will not offer dog ticketing next year. Exceptions will be made for state-regulated service animals that are trained to perform specific tasks for individuals with disabilities. However, to prevent service animal fraud, owners of these service animals will undergo screening at the gate. Please note that Emotional Support Animals are not included in this exception and will not be allowed entry.

Adapting Policies, Growing Programs

We understand that our commitment to collective respect and responsibility is paramount, and we are steadfast in our desire to foster a community where everyone is mindful of how their individual actions may impact the collective experience of all participants. This includes not only our approach to ticketing, but also our broader initiative to uplift and support one another, ensuring the Revival event remains a safe and welcoming space for all.

Our vision for Revival 2024 promises even deeper immersion as we expand our organizations programs. We are excited to announce our upcoming workshop grant program! With these grants, we aim to provide the necessary resources and materials, empowering our hosts to craft even more engaging, interactive, and enlightening sessions. Additionally, for those passionate about community welfare, we are aiming to provide an onsite medical program, as well as a peer support tent. We invite therapists, counselors, and EMTs to co-create this vision with us. Stay tuned for additional grant details and avenues this November.

Volunteers

A monumental salute to our incredible volunteers, the lifeblood of Revival. This year, you collectively filled 283 volunteer shifts, committing a remarkable 333 hours during this year’s event. Your dedication was not only felt, but deeply appreciated by every participant. As a sign of our immense gratitude, we are thrilled to invite you to a VIP Party exclusively for our volunteers on Thursday, August 24th, 2023. This is our way of celebrating you, our unsung heroes. Detailed information about the event, including time and location, can be found on our Facebook group or community page. If you volunteered this year, you should have received an email with further specifics about this special gathering. Revival is working towards a community where everyone is inspired to volunteer for the event, whether before, during, or after Revival. The more volunteers we have, the more programs we can roll out (such as our coming peer support tent and medical tent, and our existing Watchmen program) all while continuing to keep ticketing costs low. This enables us to nourish and expand our vibrant community, enhancing the experience for all involved. We are eager to celebrate your dedication and to express our heartfelt thanks in person!

In wrapping up, remember that every footprint, every note sung, every hand extended in friendship at Revival creates the mosaic of memories we cherish. Together, let's look forward to another year of introspection, celebration, and shared joy.

Warmly,

Andy Silva, Chair
