Crafting Core Values for Our Community
The Evolution of Our Revival
As we stand at the precipice of another year, our annual gathering at Revival beckons not just as an event, but as a symbol of our ever-evolving community. Each year, we come together to share, to learn, and to grow. This year, under the theme of Metanoia, we are invited to embark on a journey, not just individually, but collectively.
Metanoia, the journey of changing one's mind, heart, self, or way of life, resonates profoundly with where we find ourselves today. As our community grows, so too does the spectrum of ideas, beliefs, and values within it. This diversity is our strength, yet it also calls for reflection. It beckons us to consider what lies at the core of Revival. What values unite us? How do these values influence our actions, our gatherings, and our relationships within the community?
This year's contemplative theme is a call to action. It asks us to look inward and outward, to consider not just our personal transformation but our collective evolution. How can we, as a community, embody the principles of mutual respect, accountability, understanding, compassion, and consent? These are not just abstract ideals but tangible practices that we must cultivate in every interaction, in moments both simple and complex.
As we delve into these questions, we invite each one of you to engage in this discussion. What do you believe should be the foundational values of Revival? Consider 3-5 basic principles that could guide us in our gatherings, in how we operate as individuals, collaborators, and as a community. These principles should serve as our North Star, guiding us towards achieving our collective goals.
Should these values be immutable or should they evolve alongside us? Should they remain steadfast, providing a constant beacon of guidance? Or should they adapt, reflecting our collective growth and learning?
We understand the importance of community input in establishing these values. Your voices, your insights, and your experiences are vital in shaping the path forward. These values should not be shields to hide behind but signposts guiding our interactions. They should foster a culture of open dialogue, encouraging conversations among friends, and ensuring that every voice is heard.
In line with this, we will start polling for feedback on these considerations. By this year's gathering, from June 27-30, we hope to create a platform for everyone to vote or comment on what values have been collected.
As you reflect on what these values might be, ask yourself: How do these principles resonate with my personal journey of Metanoia? How can they enhance our collective experience? How do they align with the goals of mutual respect, accountability, understanding, compassion, and consent?
This is an invitation to dialogue, to share your thoughts, hopes, and aspirations for our community. Together, let's define what Revival stands for, creating a legacy of values that reflects our collective metanoia.Your insights, your stories, and your vision for our future are not just welcomed—they are essential.
Imagine our gathering as a microcosm of the broader world, a place where every interaction, every shared moment, is an opportunity to practice the principles we hold dear. The values we choose to embody and uphold will not only shape our time together but will ripple out into our lives beyond the gathering. They are the seeds from which our actions and interactions grow.
As you consider your role in this collective journey, reflect on the moments that have challenged you, the conversations that have transformed you, and the connections that have deepened your understanding of yourself and others. What values were present in those moments? What principles guided you through? These reflections are the compass that can guide us as we navigate the waters of our collective Metanoia.
We invite you to share your thoughts, your reflections, and your vision for our community's values in the coming months. This is not just about reaching a consensus but about fostering a dialogue that enriches our collective understanding and respect for one another.
